Friday November the 4th - Twilight Fair

Tuesday 13th December - Whole School Picnic on the school field starting at 5pm until 6.30pm. Bring along the family and some kai. We will have students performing throughout the event. This will celebrate the end of the year and will replace our traditional end of year assembly that we normally have on the last day for Rata, Kowhai and Matai.

Thursday 15th December: Final Assembly for Matai and Totara when we farewell our year 8 students as they move onto high school and welcome our year 7's who step up to become our year 8's in 2017. This will be held at Cashmere High School's Performing Arts Centre from 7-8.30pm. At the conclusion of the assembly, year 8 children and their Whānau are invited to stay for a catch up and a cuppa.

Important Notices

Student Council Mufti Day

Wednesday 19th October (week 2). Dress up as your favourite animal and bring a gold coin. The money raised will go to the SPCA to support all the great work they do.

St James School, Aranui

Today we were privileged to host a group of students from St James School, Aranui. They performed to us, as a way to say thank you for the money raised from a previous mufti day. The money raised through our student council (that was given to the Aorangi Foundation) enabled St James School to attend camp at Living Springs. This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to see and acknowledge the impact of their actions on others. Our visitors then had  morning tea with our student council. Check out a photo of their performance here.

Sun Hats

A reminder that children are required to wear school regulation sunhats in term 4. These may be purchased through the school uniform shop at a cost of $15 each.

Staffing Update

Following on from our advertised positions and last terms appointment process we are excited to announce the following appointments, click here to read.

Property Update - Cultural Narrative

We are excited to receive our cultural narrative and are hoping to be able to share this with you next week. Keep an eye out for this exciting and important release.

Our cultural narrative will include new Māori names for our buildings, learning spaces and learning teams, these names will be based around the Kererū.

This will mean a significant change in the current names we use to identify our learning teams and buildings however this is a unique opportunity and a very exciting time for the school. These names will be significant to our local area, unique to our school and they will be names (in te reo) that the children, staff and whānau will (in time) use everyday.

Property Update : School Field

We are again hoping to be able to use the school field this week. This is still weather dependent and initially, it might just be used during learning time for PE, fitness and sport.

Congratulations to Luke Jones who as part of the Canterbury Black U13 Basketball team won the South Island U13 A grade Basketball tournament over the school holidays.  The A grade tournament was fiercely competitive with 8 teams from Nelson to Southland competing for the championship.  The team was coached by Mark Dickel, head coach of the Canterbury Rams.  The team of 9 boys did an amazing job – going undefeated in the tournament, well done team and congratulations!
