Important Notices

Student Led Conferences (Bookings close 3pm Wednesday 29th of June )

We are looking forward to celebrating your child’s learning in week 10, Monday 4th July and Tuesday 5th July

Your 10 minute, one on one conference, time with the teacher will be pre-booked by you through the web based booking system. We invite you to go into the class 10 – 20 minutes before the interview or stay in the class up to 10 - 20 minutes after the interview to listen to your child explain their learning and to show you evidence of this. Please question them and provide feedback on the learning that they share with you.

As in previous years up to five families can be in the learning space over 50 minutes together. When you arrive at school just go into your child’s learning space. No more sitting outside in the cold.

Children are to be collected at the normal time of 2.55pm on both days This organisation allows us to fit interviews in over two nights from 3.20pm – 7pm without having to ask parents to collect children early.  Interviews start at 3.20pm for the Kowhai, Matai and Totara teams and at 3.30pm for the Rata team.

NB: if you book the last conference time then you will need to be in the learning space prior to your scheduled conference to hear from your child about their learning.

We have staggered the last conference time as we are aware that our younger children often have an earlier bedtime:

Year 1 and 2 last conference time 6.20pm

Year 3 last conference time 6.30pm

Year 4-8 last conference time 6.40pm

You will be called upon for your 10 minute (one on one) time with the teacher at the time you have booked.

To book your time with a teacher please go to:http://www.schoolinterviews.co.nz/ .

The code is: smwdf. The interview booking site will be open from Monday June 20 and will close on Wednesday 29 June 3pm.

Inclusive survey update

The committee comprising of  parents, staff  and RTLB (Resource Teacher of Learning and Behaviour) met last week and after discussion and debate reached a consensus from the survey data we received recently from parents, students and staff. Now we have this we will look at it as a school and celebrate our strengths and look at the areas we need to do some more work around and plan for this.  Once the plan is complete we will share the overall data and our action plan with all Whānau.  Thank you to all those Whānau who took the time to complete the surveys.

Athletics Day (date is confirmed)

We have decided to host the 2016 Cashmere Primary School Athletics Day on the last week of term 3. The date is Wednesday 21st of September and it will take place at Hansen Park, Opawa which is the location of the Port Hills Athletic Club.

We have moved the date forward to term 3 to dedicate term 3 as our athletics term, this will be seen through the teaching of the different events skills and movements during class time. Another reason for the change is to give the students who qualify for the Zones Athletics day (3rd of November) ample time to practice and prepare.

The planning of the day will begin very shortly and documents will be added to the Ultranet as they are completed.  If you have any questions please email me on the email address below.

Kind regards, Andy Gibson,
Sports Co-ordinator sport@cashmereprimary.school.nz

The Jasper Project - Mufti Day

Recently three students from Christchurch Girls High School came to the Cashmere Executive in need of some funds for a great cause. As a decile 10 school they approached student leaders at Cashmere, Ilam, Waimairi and Lincoln High to help raise money for their Jasper project.

To help create the packages we are having a Blue and Yellow Mufti Day on Friday the 1st of July. Please help us raise money for this awesome cause. You can also read more about this fabulous cause on their website; http://yesjasper.wix.com/thejasperproject

Support for our school families - A message from the PTA

There has been a tab set up at Taste@20 as a small but practical gesture of support for the three families in our school community who we know are directly dealing with illness . As well as their yummy food, coffee and hot chocolate Taste@20 make the most amazing juices which are highly nutritious and delicious.

It's just a little thing we can do to show our ongoing support to Eugenie Wang, Jonty Gray and the Pawson family.

So if you are popping into Taste@20 or just passing by on your way up/down the hill, please consider asking the lovely ladies to add your change (or a bit more) to the tab for these lovely Cashmere Primary School folk.

We'll let you know if other ways to show our ongoing support and aroha come up over the weeks ahead.

Kind regards, The PTA

The Colgate Oral Care Brigade

As part of the Success Badge award, Alisha Warwick is organising a new recycling system for CPS.  It involves recycling old toothbrushes and toothpaste tubes and the packaging that they come in.  Not only is this in keeping with the Enviroschool idea of recycling and limiting waste, there is also a competition to see which school can recycle the most with cash prizes to be won.  There will be a box in the office to put the recyclable products in.  Please click here to see what products you can bring in.  For more information visit www.terracycle.co.nz Thanks for your support.

Christchurch City Choir presents: "Sonnets and Lullabies", featuring the Christchurch Boys' Choir and Helen Charlton (Soprano).

Saturday 9th July, 7:30 - 9:30pm at the Transitional Cathedral

Miss Divett is singing in the Chch City Choir and this performance might be of interest to some families. The pieces of music are a beautiful collection of 20th Century works: a stunning French-Latin mass by Louis Vierne; some Shakespearean Sonnets set to music by British jazz pianist George Shearing; and a delightful piece by NZ composer Anthony Ritchie called "Lullabies", featuring the Chch Boys' Choir (and a song about penguins... Could be interesting!).

Adults $35, Children $10.  Tickets can be purchased via Eventfinda.
