BOT Elections

Nominations have now closed for the Board of Trustees Election.  Our schools will be going to election.  You will receive a voting paper and candidate profile listing. These will be in the mail Tuesday and with some through into Wednesday . For those of you that do not receive your papers by Tuesday 31st May, please contact the school.  Votes will be counted on 9th June and candidates advised of results.  Friday 10th of June - New Board takes office..

Please ensure that you take the time to read the candidate profiles and vote.  Voting for a candidate on the Board of Trustees is the best way to ensure both you and your children have the best people governing Cashmere Primary School.

Wet and Muddy Conditions

Some of our play areas are getting muddy and unfortunately some children are getting muddy as a result. Unfortunately some of this is a result of children not behaving responsibly. We are unable to change children's clothing as we have a lack of clothing at school. If your child is muddy because they have deliberately chosen to play in the mud we will be ringing parents to bring a change to school. We are trying very hard not to close off areas of the playground as it is already restricted with the field out of action. Please talk to your children about playing sensibly and we will also. Thanks for your support.

Student Council update

On Wednesday 8 June the CPS Student Council are holding a ‘Wacky Wednesday’ Mufti Day.  Students are encouraged to come along in weird, wonderful, wacky clothing and make a donation.

Funds raised will go towards the purchase and decoration of Friendship Seats.  This is an initiative of the CPS Year 8 Inclusive Executive. Friendship Seats are designed for students who find themselves with no one to play with during their break times.  By sitting on the seat, the student will alert teachers and other students that they are lonely and other students will be encouraged to include the student in their activities. The Inclusive Learning Group are painting the seats so they look attractive with kind support of parents Juliet Milne and Kate Carter. Once complete the seats will be placed in the playground.

Click here to view some examples of Friendship Seats

Money raised will also go to the Aorangi Foundation which was set up by Living Springs Camp with the aim to support children from decile 1 schools to attend camp.

We are looking forward to a fun day & raising funds for two great causes.  Thank you

PTA Update

Keeping Warm in Winter!

Thank you to all the families of CPS who generously donated jackets to the collection for Rowley Avenue Primary School. They were really pleased to receive the gift from one community to another. We collected approximately 35 jackets and warm tops - enough to keep one and half classrooms of children warm. Rowley has a Kohanga Reo on site so the preschool clothing was put to good use as well. Once again, thank you to the kind and thoughtful group of families that make up our school, it felt great to drop them off.

Main Field

As many of you will have noticed, the main playing field has had a new 'top coat'. The proceeds of the Home and Garden Tour were pledged to upgrade our field as it was bare in places and boggy in others. It is growing back nicely and the next step is to replace the soccer goals. We will all enjoy the newly refurbished field in the coming months.

Entertainment Books

Thank you to Mandy Martin who, once again, organised the Entertainment Book fundraiser for our school. We have had lots of orders but it is not too late to order if you have been meaning to do so. If you would like to support this fundraiser but do not want an Entertainment Book, the profit margin is $13 per book and this amount could be donated online to PTA 03 0855 0334364-02.

We really appreciate the support our community gives the PTA. As CPS is a Decile 10 school and receives no funding from the Ministry of Education for 'extras', we rely on community support to provide for our kids a great school environment. Recently they may be wearing sports uniforms purchased by the PTA, played on the junior and senior playgrounds or very soon, be able to use an excellent field - all with money raised by the PTA!
