Easter Tuesday school holiday

Thank you Cashmere Community for a Great Weekend!

The working bee on Saturday was very successful with many helpers, including children, sharing the load and getting those jobs done that seem to mount up at times. The skip is full and Steve is very happy to have cleared the backlog. Those children who helped will get 5 house points each. Thanks also to the parent volunteers for providing a great afternoon tea which was really appreciated by all. An enormous thank you to all those who gave their  time and all the effort put in on such a hot day.

The Bothy Garden Party was a great opportunity for many of the community to get together .A huge thank you to those who attended and to Jen Duncan and her very able band of helpers and supporters who made it happen. It was planned to perfection and was a very special occasion. Cashmere is a great community and this event proved it once again.

Fiji Fundraiser

Thank you for supporting the ice block sales on Friday. We raised $220.00. This money will go to World Vision to help support Fiji, along with the mufti day money. A total of $870 was raised from the two events.

Reading Mileage Tutors Required

Now that class programmes are up and running we are asking for parents, grandparents and other supporters to volunteer as Reading Mileage Tutors. If you enjoy reading with your child at home you will probably also enjoy helping with Reading Mileage. Research has shown that the more a child reads the easier it becomes-and we need people to listen to and encourage children who find reading challenging. Tutors need to be able to make a commitment of one or two 30 minute sessions a week. Times are flexible. A short training session is provided and support is offered throughout the year. Classroom teachers really appreciate the help they get from tutors – it really does make a difference! Last year we did not have enough tutors to meet the demand, so please consider becoming a Reading Mileage Tutor and giving something back to the school. Please email me if you may be interested and I will get back to you. Thank you. Wang Family Mucking In Project

Following right behind the amazing expression of community support and care for Tim and Eugenie Wang and family which was demonstrated at the Bothy Garden Party on Saturday (huge thanks to Jen Duncan and friends), we’re now ready to share with you plans for the Wang Family Mucking In Project. The family are up for it and have a goal to have the garden completed before overseas family visit soon.

It’s been simply stunning to see the support of so many individuals and businesses as they get right behind this project. We have the plans confirmed and preparatory work is underway. The vast majority of hard and soft landscaping materials have been donated – check out the amazing sponsors here.

All that remains is for us to confirm the practical details around who is available when to help piece it together.  So many of you have already signalled support in passing, but please follow the link to register your interest so that we can easily keep track of your offer to lend a hand. We will then keep you in the loop as this project continues to unfold. It’s a lot of fun, there will be food and drink to share and it’s a really practical way to stand alongside this lovely family.

If you follow the highlighted link below you will find the dates and a little detail around the various projects we will complete together.

If you have any comments, questions or if you are unable to access the ‘Google forms’ we have linked to this page, please contact Clare Palmer on tonyandclare@vodafone.co.nz or 0212295699.
