Kia ora Whānau

I have spent this morning at our CPS Swimming Championships and would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all competitors on their achievements and thank them for their exemplary behaviour and sportsmanship. I would also like to thank those parents and grandparents who were able to join us, for their support and encouragement. Finally I would like to thank Sue Andrews, Tom Houghton and all the teachers who contributed to this well run event.

I would like to also welcome back the Totara Team from their Wainui camp. I had the privilege of going over to Wainui last Wednesday to visit  (for some coasteering and kayaking) and what I experienced was a hugely successful camp where students were working together, supporting each other and stepping outside of their comfort zone in some very challenging outdoor activities. A huge thank you to all of the Totara teachers for the amazing care and support that they gave to all children whilst on camp.

Have a great week everyone.

Helping Hampstead School

Hi my name is Charlotte Andrews and as part of my success awards I am taking up a collection of small items which will be used as encouragement gifts by the principal Mr Peter Melrose for a job well done at Hampstead School in Ashburton which is a low decile school.  The items which could be donated are pens, pencils, rubbers, stickers, hotel size toiletries, balls and any other items you think the children would like to receive as gifts; all new please no second hand or used items.  A box will be in the office to receive the items.  Thank you for your support.

Home Stay required: Private boarding

We have a girl from Taiwan coming into the Totara Team in June for possibly one year. She will require a family to live with who will treat her as their own whist she is here. The Taiwanese family pay the Homestay family weekly to have their child looked after and she would need her own room. It would be a great cultural experience for any family.

Please contact Cathy Andrew (DP)  cathy.andrew@cashmereprimary.school.nz or phone CPS if you would like to be considered for this or if you have any other questions.

Pedestrian Crossing - Last year I sent a message in the Whanau news asking if anyone felt strongly and wanted to support having a pedestrian crossing along Hackthorne road between the Dyers pass road and the Kidsfirst kindy. A few parents emailed me, thank-you (if you did not get an email back I have lost your details sorry!). Our query is eventually being dealt with. The traffic engineer is going to assess the traffic / pedestrian pattern over the next few days. If you have not emailed me yet and are keen on supporting this request please send me an email to andrea.spratek@gmail.com. Many thanks, Andrea Strydom

Uniforms - Please return all Cashmere Primary Basketball and Triathlon uniforms to the office ASAP.

We have suddenly got job offers in Queenstown and are looking to relocate. Unfortunately we signed a 1 year lease agreement on our rental property (61 Dyers Pass Road) and so are ungently looking for someone/a family to take over the lease. It's a 4 bed house at $535/week, it has a large kitchen/diner /separate lounge and it has a pool (recently earthquake repaired)! It is currently advertised on Trademe.  Any questions please feel free to call me on 0272 865000 (Lisa).

The Weetbix Tryathlon has now reached capacity and sold out in Christchurch.  At present we only have 14 registered against the school and need at need at least 16 in order to qualify for prizes.  Could you please email Joanna Kelly at jjpkelly@gmail.com with your child’s name so we can check you have been included as a participant registered for Cashmere Primary.
