Mr Burn welcomes our new students at the special flag raising assembly.

Kia ora

A warm welcome back to all of our returning students and Whānau, I hope you have all had a relaxing and enjoyable summer break.  A very special welcome to all of our new students and their families who are starting school at Cashmere Primary for the first time on Monday the 1st of February.  Sophie Eccleton, Stella Leitch, Sebastian Hardey, Cameron Petrie, Fergus Sutcliffe, Lucy Tonkin, Elsie Wright, Stephen Hou, Winnie Wang, Wiki Diao, Caterina Coin, Ella Temple, Mica Temple, Willim Fowler, Annabel Pawson, Pieta Bennett, Mya Bennett, Rose Martin, James Martin and Lucy Martin.

It is with great pleasure and pride that I formally introduce myself as the new principal of Cashmere Primary School. Personally and professionally I am looking forward to the role and all of the challenges that come with the responsibility of being a school principal. As a first time principal I could not be in a more supportive and professional learning centered environment. As you well know, the dedication care and commitment that all staff have towards your children is second to none.

Over the past few weeks the staff have been setting up their learning spaces. With most staff changing rooms this has been a very busy time for them. I would like to acknowledge and thank all staff, especially the Rata Team (who have completely transformed the Epicentre) for all of their hard work in creating such amazing learning spaces.

The next two years will no doubt provide many challenges and disruptions to the ‘ideal’ that we all strive for. Our students’ learning and well being will remain our priorities and we aim to keep any (building related) disruptions to a minimum. There may be times however, where we will all need to be flexible, adaptable, supportive and caring.

Coming from Halswell School, a school that has had many complex and challenging changes over the past two years (due to a full school rebuild) I fully understand and appreciate any concerns that you may have around the building projects and the transition to a more flexible learning environment. Communication throughout this process will be key. We aim to prioritise clear communication about the ‘why’ that lies behind any change and we also ask that you, our parent community, continue to provide us with your honest feedback and ask questions as and when required.

Once again, welcome back everyone and best wishes as we start the 2016 school year.

Ngā mihi nui

Principal

Meet your child’s  collaborative teaching team – This is a chance for you to meet the teachers who will be leading learning with your child in 2016.

The teachers will share important information about learning within their collaborative team.

Each collaborative teaching team will run two sessions, one at 5.30pm and then repeat the session at 6.15pm so that Whānau can choose the session time that works best for them.

6.15-6.45pm:  session two
